BOOKS FOR KIDS PROJECT

BOOKS FOR KIDS PROJECT

Our Books for Kids initiative at BAME Lone Parents Network transforms young lives by fostering a love of reading. Books open doors to imagination, creativity, and growth. They can inspire, enhance reading skills, and transport children to new worlds, even when their families face challenging times.

Your book donations can help us provide children affected by poverty in London and Africa with access to the joy and magic of reading.

“Reading is dreaming with open eyes.”

How Your Donations Help

We partner with local schools to host Book Roadshow events throughout the year, where children can select and take home books to keep. Additionally, we distribute books through our Family Basics program year-round, ensuring children always have access to reading material.

Each year, we hold a special Books for Kids Appeal, where we specifically seek donations of brand-new books. We’re grateful for good-quality secondhand book donations as well, which we welcome all year.

Every year , our goal is to distribute over 500 books through our Book Roadshows and Family Essentials project, helping to inspire young readers. Your support makes all the difference—giving a child a book can truly impact their life and foster a lifelong love for reading.

How You Can Support Books for Kids

  • Donate Books: We’re looking for new and high-quality second-hand books for children aged 0-16, with a particular need for ages 4-11. Both fiction and non-fiction books are welcome.

  • Organize a Book Collection: Gather books with friends, family, community, or work colleagues. Contact us at bameloneparents@gmail.com for posters, materials, and guidance.

  • Drop-off or Delivery Options: Book donations can be dropped off in person at 204 Palmer House, Wood Green, N22 6UL, or arranged for direct delivery from online retailers. For larger donations, book our collection van to pick up from your chosen location.

  • Support Local Bookstores: You can also purchase books from local independent bookstores who would be happy to assist you in finding the perfect selections in-store or online.

Thank you for helping bring the joy of reading to children in need!

Childhood Experiences Program

Childhood Experiences Project

Childhood Experiences Program

At BAME Lone Parents Network, we believe that every child deserves joyful memories. In the past, we ran popular Holiday Camps and Youth Clubs, creating lasting, happy memories for the children we supported—memories of seaside trips to Blackpool, laughter, and excitement that many still cherish today

While providing tangible support remains crucial, we know the lasting impact of happy childhood experiences. This understanding inspired us to create Childhood Experiences.

Our Childhood Experiences program introduces children facing poverty to enriching activities they might otherwise miss. We partner with activity providers, corporate sponsors, and child-focused organizations to offer free events and experiences that open doors to new interests and joy.

Through Childhood Experiences, children have enjoyed unforgettable outings to theaters, climbing centers, and museums. These experiences give them a chance to explore, dream, and make memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Together, we can help every child build beautiful childhood memories.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH ON JESUS

TIME TO DINE WITH OTHER SINGLE MUMS

BAME Christmas Lunch on Jesus

Each year, Christmas Lunch on Jesus provides festive boxes filled with everything needed for a joyous Christmas meal. Our boxes contain turkey, vegetables, potatoes, gravy, Christmas pudding, crackers, chocolates, and all the trimmings for a truly memorable Christmas lunch. We distribute these boxes to families and individuals on low incomes who might otherwise struggle to afford a Christmas meal.

Who We Help: This initiative is particularly aimed at:

  • Elders over 60: Many elderly individuals face social isolation and financial difficulties, especially during the holiday season. We want to ensure they experience the joy and warmth of Christmas.
  • Single Mums and Dads: Many single parents juggle multiple responsibilities and often find it challenging to provide a festive meal for their children. Our boxes aim to relieve some of that burden.
  • Orphans: Children without parental support deserve to feel loved and cared for, especially during the holidays. We want to ensure they receive a special Christmas meal and the accompanying warmth of community support.

Each box we distribute also includes a candle, a booklet about the true meaning of Christmas, and an invitation to our Christmas services in London and Africa.

Global Reach: This year, we’re excited to partner with friends in Africa to provide Christmas boxes for some of the poorest individuals living in slums. These boxes will contain rice, lentils, dahl, biscuits, sweets, and more—a Christmas feast for those who face poverty every day. Each box will also include a celebration candle and a New Testament.

Why Give?

  • Make a Direct Impact: Your contributions directly support those in need, ensuring they have a special Christmas meal and the comfort of knowing they are not alone.
  • Spread Joy and Hope: Your donation not only provides food but also brings joy, love, and the spirit of Christmas to those who may feel forgotten during the holiday season.
  • Support Vulnerable Communities: By giving, you help uplift single parents, the elderly, and orphans in our communities, showing them they are valued and cared for.

We Need Your Help!

Join us in making this Christmas special by helping to pack and deliver boxes at our Wood Green location in December. If you’re interested in volunteering or want more information, please contact Glory Asher, Christmas Lunch on Jesus Project Administrator, at 0207 175 5108.

How You Can Make a Difference

Consider sponsoring a Christmas meal for a family in London for just £35, or contribute whatever you can afford. You can donate online using the form below or send money via bank transfer (please write "Christmas Lunch on Jesus" on the back).

Together, let’s spread joy and hope this Christmas season and ensure that no one in our community is left behind.
