BAME Lone Parents Network is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to supporting single parents, vulnerable individuals, and their families in London, the South East, and across Africa. Our mission is to empower individuals by providing expert advice, practical support, and essential resources to help them navigate the complex challenges they face—whether it's overcoming poverty, dealing with social isolation, or addressing mental health struggles.
At BAME Lone Parents Network, we understand that anyone can find themselves a single parent, and we believe every single parent deserves to feel welcomed, included, and supported.
Our work focuses on reducing isolation and social exclusion by promoting social cohesion through community events, tailored support, and referrals to social groups. By equipping individuals with the skills and confidence they need, we aim to transform the lives of single parents, helping them overcome loneliness, stigma, inequality, and financial hardship.
Our Core Values are at the heart of everything we do:
Vision: A world where every single parent, the elderly and vulnerable person feels supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential, free from isolation, stigma, and inequality.
Mission: To provide expert advice, practical support, and tailored services to single parents and vulnerable individuals, promoting social inclusion and participation. Through advocacy, community events, and specialized programs like the Integrated Health Programme (IHP), we aim to improve mental health, reduce poverty, and build self-esteem, empowering individuals to thrive both in the UK and globally.
This refined profile emphasizes the organization's dedication to inclusivity, empowerment, and advocacy while focusing on its broader mission to create long-term change for single parents and vulnerable groups
A unique, personalised and free program matches an expecting or parenting young person with a professional mentor for 12 months. Mentors work from local hub sites, community organisations or via virtual delivery
Our mentors walk alongside participants throughout the program – from referrals and first contact, to setting goals and working to achieve them, to celebration of their achievements and graduation from the program.
We work together with the pregnant or parenting young person on setting goals that are important to them including (but not limited to):
We are creating a new mentoring program for young dads. The program is based on the SEPT Program but will be tailored to specifically meet the needs of young dads.
We know that young dads want to be a valued and active parent in their child’s life and have unique needs and challenges to allow them and their families to flourish.
Young dads work one on one with a professional mentor to identify things they’d like to achieve (for example, being the best dad they can be, returning to education, finding a job, managing finances, having better relationships with their child’s mother). The mentor meets with a young dad about every two weeks (depending on what is agreed is needed) and together they work on a plan toward achieving their goals.
The pilot program is available in and around LONDON and SOUTH EAST but locations may expand based on interest).
Eligibility, referrals and the way the program works are the same as the SEPT program right now but we will be speaking to the young dads during the program to help shape how it looks.
Through our diverse range of programs and services, BAME Lone Parents Network is dedicated to improving the overall well-being of the communities we serve. Key initiatives include:
Additionally, BAME Lone Parents Network is committed to tackling issues like poverty, inequality, and discrimination, with a special focus on women with disabilities and women living with HIV. We are committed to changing the narrative for single-parent families, transforming their experiences of isolation, poverty, and poor health into opportunities for growth, inclusion, and lasting positive change.
By diversifying our membership, team, and advisory group, we continuously strive to reflect the communities we serve and to ensure that our work is relevant, impactful, and inclusive of all voices.
